Everything is not how it seems... We're all mad here.

Cobblestone doorways

filled with hate

running so fast

don't be late

the Hatter is waiting

for you to arrive

if you are late

you won't survive

follow the path

it will lead you to him

you have to meet him

you have to win

don't be tempted by the cat

his smile will lead you

away from the hat

the hat is key

for you to escape

it fits in the lock

at the tall gate

run little Alice

run as fast as you can

and you might be able to escape

this twisted Wonderland

You had me with the title. Love Alice in Wonderland! This is a great poem reflecting the demented darkness that lies beneath the cheery children's tale. The nonsense of Wonderland, the uncooperative nature of the characters, and their enjoyment of being mad are quite cruel characteristics, but are viewed as comical in the telling of the story. You have tapped into the darkness that is hidden in the classic story and you use the same great formula of nonsense combined with logic as the story does when writing the poem. It's fantastic! I also like how this is a game between Alice and the Hatter with fatal consequences. A great metaphor hidden in this piece, too. The great thing about Alice in Wonderland is it can connect with so many people on so many levels for so many reasons, and it can be repainted into different renditions, such as this darker take, and it still works! Love this poem!
