I was at the park today, sitting on a swing. I felt lonely even though there were people all around me. The sun was setting and the humidity tamed, and all I could think of was that I wanted one person to tell me to hold it together. To assure me I was okay.

The squeak of a swing

The glide of a breeze

The same fake smile

That defines me.

A child's laugh

A mother's glance

A look from me to you

To break the trance.

A falling leaf

A squating frog

A gesture of the sorts

Might shatter this fog.

A subtle sigh

A riping dream

A small smile

Could awaken me.

But no fairy tale

Or happy ending

Just a walk home

And tears descending.
