I tripped over a memory and fell on my hands and knees,

when I looked up the tears in my eyes were all I could see.

Bright sunlight tumbled through the trees,

shattering on the ground in front of me.

Left there to be consumed by shadow,

much like my heart and like the memory.

The air got cold and clouds rolled in,

the rain came down as if to wash me away,

and took the sunlight, and the brightness of that day.

I just sat there through the storm,

as the sunlight left me alone once more.
