small town girl

local cashier

"take out the trash"

"schoochie come here!"

I watch your kids

I go to their games

I'm "sis i need to talk"

yet it seems I'm "sis I need five dollars."

I'm "I love you"

yet it seems I'm the reason for your pain

but when that uniform comes on

I'm "mommy look its an army girl"

I'm "are you sure this is what you want?"

I'm "DROP!"

I'm "schoochie I love you"

I'm "Thank you for what you do"

I'm "I need you"

I'm "How can you be a soldier, don't you know what your fighting for?"

What they don't realize is that I do

I'm fighting for the man to my left and to my right

I'm fighting for the mother who got a letter instead of a goodbye

for the soldier who gets to see pictures rather then hear the cry of his newborn child

for the little girl "mommy its an army girl"

for you
