A father’s love
“Nothing can compare to a father’s love.”
He sat by the small crib, staring at the baby that lay warm and snug in its safe haven. He smiled as he saw the baby’s chest rise and fall, her fingers moving ever so slightly. He sighed softly as he moved closer. He leaned over the railings, slowly stretched out his arm and carefully stroked his daughter’s hair.
She moved slightly and he froze not wanting to wake her up. She looked so calm, so peaceful, it’d be cruel to take her away from her own world and back to reality.
He touched her cheek warm, and soft. It felt smooth, unkissed by the sun, without a flaw. He removed his hand and smiled. She was his little girl; his princess… the apple of his eye.
As he stood there watching his little girl, he vowed to protect her; to shield her; to hide her from the pain of the world. No one would hurt her like they hurt him. He’d be her protector; not only because she was his daughter but because she meant everything to him.
