Every step in your life leads to a different place... Often questions what if I'd gone left... What if I'd gone right... What if you just stop and appreciate the steps you've already taken...

My feet in my mother’s palm

Safe in her hand, free from harm.

My feet tell my story

Moments of sadness and of glory

Carried me through places

Showed that life moves at different paces.

My feet hold my memories

First steps, first love, first kiss

Acquired scars along the way

At times kept people at bay.

My feet have skipped in the rain

Allowed me to wash away the pain

They led me to you on that day

Changed my sky to blue from grey.

My feet embraced the warm sand

As we strolled along the beach hand in hand

Recalling you getting down on one knee

Promising to always be there for me.

My feet walked those important steps

Wearing that crisp white wedding dress

Taking those strides to get to you

Stood me tall so I could say, “I do”.

My feet shuffled the hospital corridor

Became weak until I could stand no more

Rested for the birth of our beautiful son

And now I can say his journey has begun.

His feet, in his mother’s palm

Safe in her hand, free from harm.
