And your secretary comes in-
Stirring coffee over your papers.
You try and findsomething
in the assorted mess of dirt.
It's with me, the secretary says,
And she lifts up her skirt.
You want to take her on the desk
"Take her now!"
She swallows your mouth.
Folders and evaluation forms,
That sworn agreement from somewhere
in China,
Becomes your hand heading south.
And you both clear the desks,
The papers and paperweights,
Picture frames with photos of your wife
and children,
Your son holding a plastic ball on a beach.
She clears you of your clothes,
As you clear your throat
with your conscience,
But it isn't clear at all.Nothing is clear to you, you recall..
Nothing ever is.
Remembering the picture of that time on the beach,
Water laps shore like tongue on someone's lip.
Your son throwing to the skiesa plasticbeach ball,
Whilst you catch it, hands open wide, fingers barely feeble.
But how many times have you watched yourself let go of the ball?Just how much of your life have you let go already?
