“I can’t take it anymore! It’s just too much!” Nathan Ward, a 7th grader, slams the front door of his parent’s house, rattling the walls. He stormed through the hallway, violently slinging his heavy, textbook-filled book bag against the wall, denting the drywall. His dog scurries after him, trying to follow him into his room but the bedroom door slams shut.
Nathan collapses on the floor, shivering and crawling towards the wood dresser. The room was blurred from the rampant saltwater tears that streamed down his gaunt face. He had not eaten anything in almost a week. Nathan shook as his bony hand struggled to pull open the drawer and picked up the razor.
His hands lost grip and the razor tumbled through the stark air onto the ragged carpet. Nathan cried out in despair, seeing his wretched face in the mirror, realizing the truth.
He was broken.
Calling out desperately for help where no one could hear him, Nathan Ward managed to take hold of the sharp blade, holding it close to his skin. His mouth fought to whisper his final surrender.
"Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil."
The razor pierced his flesh, the hopeless scream echoing throughout the empty home. Warm blood flowed from the wound, staining the opaque carpet in scarlet death.
“Forgive me Father, for I have sinned.”
And he took his last breath.
A/N: I believe there are some misconceptions surrounding this piece. It is meant as a possible result of intense bullying. This is what is happening to thousands in the world. Insecurities and past mistakes. Tearing others down to build yourself up. IT MUST STOP.
If you are the recipient of such bullying, SPEAK OUT. Tell someone. Keep screaming until someone can hear you.
