I take a step forward, exiting my house
Sunlight from above wraps around me
I follow a rainbow that has just formed
And as I follow it to the floor, a tree is what I see.

In this tree, sat a dark blue bird
Its color so vividly clear
The stunning bird looking back at me
Sings a tune for me to hear

I silently sigh, as my senses flutter
My muscles relax, and I try to mutter,
But nothing comes out but a startled stutter
Everything in my minds becomes a clutter.

The bird flaps its wings, and takes off instantly
My senses suddenly kick back to life,
And I instantly start scamper forward
For that bird is what I mostly strife.

Eight years have passed since that day
My mind has changed the way I crave
I no longer chase and never catch
For now I will sleep well in my grave.

I look out the window, to only see cloud
The roar of the engine rings my ears
The headphones bring a sudden voice,
“Sir, the runway is now clear”

I silently sigh, as my senses flutter
My muscles relax, and I try to mutter,
But nothing comes out but a startled stutter
Everything in my minds becomes a clutter.
