“Don’t kid with me like this Tatum,” his voice lacked emotion.
“Nope, I kid you not. It’s really happening.” I shoved the last pile of paperwork into my briefcase. Sebastian grinned and sat on my now empty desk.
“You’re going to work for a sex god and you’re not at all excited?” he raised an eyebrow in questioning.
“The man is overrated.” I flopped onto my chair and heaved out. He reached out and tucked a strand of hair behind my ear. I smiled in thanks.
“That’s how all love stories begin. First you hate him then you’re overly in love with him. Next you’ll be planning a wedding and then your honeymoon comes and he’ll pull out his…”
“Sebastian!” I choked out.
“What?” he asked looking genuinely confused. I got up and sat on his lap. My arms wrapped around his neck. His piercing blue eyes searched my face.
“You know you’re the only man for me,” I said in my most flirtatious voice. He laughed and shoved me off him. I rolled my eyes and indicated to a box in the corner.
“Help me pack this into your car.”
“My car? I don’t remember offering you a ride.” He picked up the box and walked out the office. I followed him with briefcase in hand.
“Yet you still do it. What a man.” I heard him chuckle.
As we reached the elevator I turned around and looked at all the faces I had grown to tolerate. Each one of those faces distorted.
“You guys always concentrated way too hard,” I whispered to myself. My eyes searched around the room until they rested on grey, weary eyes. A smile crept up on the old lady and she winked. I nodded and smiled graciously back. With that she turned around and vanished behind doors. She was possibly the best boss ever. I let out a sigh and pivoted around, only to collide with someone’s chest. My hand flew up to my head as I groaned in irritation. I looked up, ready to spit venom but that didn’t happen when I saw his face. That face. Light freckles sprayed across his cute, pointed nose. His jet black hair fell lazily over his perfectly sculpted face. Holy hell and those lips. They were tinted with the lightest of pinks and they looked just so succulent. I met his eyes and whimpered a little. His eyes were the darkest of browns with splashes of lighter brown here and there. There was a ring of what seemed to be black around all that brown. If he wasn’t the definition of beauty then I don’t know what is.
“Pardon me,” his voice was clear and velvety with a thick English accent. Without waiting for a reply, he walked past me and down the hall. I spun around and oh lord that ass. After he disappeared around a corner, I exhaled. I strolled into the elevator Sebastian was holding open for me.
“Sebastian, I want to have his babies,” I stated, leaning against the wall. I glanced at him and giggled. His tongue was running across his lips as he stared at the closed doors, hand on chest. He grunted and that was probably the only response I was going to get.
I lay sprawled on the couch with a bowl of freshly popped popcorn between my legs. Sebastian was sitting cross legged on the floor, working on his laptop.
“I’m actually going to miss you,” he said, still focused on the screen. I turned the volume of the telly off and faced him.
“Really now?” I asked, a grin spreading across my face.
“Yeah. Don’t go feeling yourself now,” he replied.
“I am a pretty difficult person not to miss.”
“I just told you not to feel yourself. Besides, I’m a very lovable person. I’ll find a new best friend from the office,” I could hear the grin in his voice.
“Fine you do that. Maybe your new best friend will bake you brownies every Sunday then,” I smiled when he went quiet.
“Fine.” He sighed and closed his laptop. Reading him had become second nature and I could tell something was bothering him. I placed the almost empty bowl on the coffee table and patted the couch. He got up and tugged at the blanket that was covering me. I shifted slightly and let him lie on my left side. He got comfortable and yanked the blanket over us. His arms wrapped around my waist and I lay my hands between our chests.
“What’s wrong?” I asked softly.
“Nothing,” he replied. He closed his eyes and held me tighter.
“Bullshit,” I said.
“Just don’t forget about me. Okay Tatum?” The fear in his voice damn near broke my heart.
“Never.” I ran a finger down his cheek.
“You’re moving up the ladder. Your success…”
“Will never come before you or replace you or whatever. You’re like, like my center. Without you I’m basically hollow, empty.”
“Oh god that was cheesy.” He chuckled.
“Open your eyes,” I asked. He opened them.
“Damn you’re one beautiful boy.” Those eyes held such innocence and good. His brown hair kind of just flopped awkwardly on his head yet it couldn’t be more perfectly placed. The single dimple that lay on his chin added to his adorableness.
“I am quite handsome.”
“I’ll give you that. If you weren’t gay, I’d be all over you,” his laugh filled the room.
“Just like how you would be all over that guy from the elevator?” he asked after his fit of laughter seized.
“He was made when the big man was having a fantastic day. Of course I’d be all over that…naked,” I sighed at the remembrance of his beauty.
“And that ass,” Seb said, eyes not focused as if he was also remembering it. I groaned and repeatedly hit Seb on the shoulder.
“It was perfect!” I muffled into his shirt.
“That it was,” his tongue ran over his lips again. I giggled and snuggled up close to him. He wrapped his arms around my shoulders and lay his cheek on my head. Quite content, I closed my eyes and began to doze.
After that we were both gone.
