Some things are wonderful

things to be sure.

___________________________

I am almost certain that this

is agreed on.

___________________________

But I remember well realizing

it for the first time.

___________________________

My mother took us across

the country in an old car.

___________________________

From Georgia to Washington,

most of it without air conditioning.

___________________________

And one night, we stopped in

what I remember was Missoula, Montana.

___________________________

We stayed at a little place

called the Thunderbird Motel.

___________________________

In the morning, I went to go get breakfast

and hunting for donuts.

___________________________

They where hot and fresh from

a local shop.

___________________________

I went out back, and looked at the

mountains of Montana.

___________________________

Eating a hot donut there, looking

at the mountain, I was happy.

___________________________

And I decided to count all good

things as blessings.

___________________________

Things like fresh hot donuts

and Montana mountains.
