Three evil kids-
Half monster- half kid,
Approached a boy and they said:
“Let’s get rid of an old friend”.
His name? Boyhood, childhood:
AKA; slides and sawdust-
Little kid,
Youth,
Toy guns and army man salutes;
Flushed down the toilet,
Like his old fish blue.
Big sweaters,
Any weather.
Bloody knees;
Bugs in jars.
Flushed cheeks.
Slug bug cars.
Awkward haircuts.
Buck teeth.
Math sucks;
Bad at English,
But he was the best on his team…
Played air guitar.
Rode his bike a little too far
Rolled down hills
Swam in lakes.
Always stayed out a little too late.
Dirty hands.
Kool-aid stained mouth.
Handsome photographs-
Too many to count.
They brushed his hair;
Picked out his clothes
He was always so unaware;
Mommys broken heart
Dads job
Big brother…well it’s all fog.
One day these evil kids approached him
They said:
“We’ll fix you- we’ll fix it!”
Real guns.
No sweater;
Bloody and real cold,
In any weather.
No money in his pocket.
Pale face.
Stealing cars-
Because he lost his.
Shaved off all his hair
Drug addict.
Tattoo’s everywhere
No teeth
Math still sucks-
Never learned it
English? Never passed it.
Forgot about his team,
And bought a guitar
Played on the streets
Never got him far.
Tripped and fell down hills
Now he takes baths in the river
Mom thinks he’s a killer
Dirty hands
Coke stained nose
Blood stained mouth
Burned the photographs,
Not many to count.
No clothes;
He’s still so unaware.
Mommys broken heart
Dad’s heart attack; fell down the stairs.
Brother still in ‘college’
He never came home,
But no one can acknowledge;
No one can accept.
Why did boyhood leave?
It totally changed him.
Who were these mysterious evil kids?
Little demons.
Ruined and killed the kid-
Now he’s just a body.
Now life has no meaning;
How can he be somebody?

The way things can change so drastically in a relatively short space of time is always a powerful concept, and I picked up on your use of it here almost immediately, and you've woven another of your potent texts around it. Your works like this don't end at the last word - they and their messages linger in the thoughts of your readers, and that is something I admire very much.
