I have to this part off with an analogy maybe someone can understand. Scientists say that matter is indestructible and must always exist in some form or another. If you have a pocket knife in your hand, you hold eternal matter that will always exist in some form. However, if you lose that knife, you no longer have eternal matter in your hand. You would have to find that knife. So it is with salvation. If you backslide you lose it. You must repent to get salvation back in your soul. Just because life itself is eternal, it does not mean we have eternal possession of it. Now, many may think this is a dumb analogy, but Jesus used them when He walked the earth. They were called parables and I am certain this is one He would have used today.

I fear for you, that somehow I have wasted my efforts on you (Galatians 4:11). Paul was writing to the Galatians, some of which had backslidden. If this is not written to backsliders, then I do not know who. This was a letter to a church in Galatia. Evidently, Paul had become disappointed in them.

Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless (James 1:26). James; half-brother to Jesus, did not teach eternal security. If a person claims to be a Christian, yet they curse and gossip they won’t enter Heaven. I am not saying this, but James. If one scripture in the Bible is wrong you may as well throw the whole book out. Unfortunately, hell will be filled with those that could not control their tongue.

The Bible states that salvation is to them that believeth. Every English word that ends in eth means to continuous work, not interrupted by sin. For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16).

“Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life (John 5:24). When one believes and turns from their sins, their souls are resurrected from death into life. The Resurrection of Christ made the resurrection of our souls that are dead in sin possible.

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him (Hebrews 11:6). How can one go to Heaven if they aren’t pleasing God? Sin never has, and never will please God. If one is sinning they are not earnestly seeking God, they are living for self and the devil is pleased.

You were running a good race. Who cut in on you to keep you from obeying the truth? (Galatians 5:7). Why don’t the eternal security believers use this scripture? It is because they cannot explain their sin with it. Paul wrote saying the DID run well, they had stopped obeying the truth. He was not saying that their sin was fine in God’s eyes as long as they said a prayer once before in their life.

You foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? Before your very eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed as crucified. (Galatians 3:1). God doesn’t bewitch people, the devil does. Paul was writing to the Galatians because they had gone back into sin. The devil has bewitched many today; their minds are in a stupor thinking they can get by with sin. Oh, they read the Bible and go to church, but they are deceived. I have looked into the eyes of these kinds of people and it amazes me how the devil can manipulate them if they let him.

I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel (Galatians 1:6). Notice, they removed themselves from Jesus. Many today have left the true Gospel to follow false doctrines. which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse! (Galatians 1:7, 8).  The Gospel has been perverted by many false prophets today. How many preach like Jesus or Paul? Not many. People wonder why I do not listen to many preachers and this verse is why. I do not find many today that preach what Jesus or Paul preached, so I consider their teachings cursed.
