To be with the company of children is real pleasure. I could say its a tonic to ease your mind and heart.

The moment I step foot on my work place,
I feel the best with a smile on my face.
The orphan, the destitute, the helpless gather there,
A collection of real life's tragedy swarmed to care.
Walking around with these innocent kids so cool,
I teach them all day with love as a tool.
My duty is to foster the shy, timid child,
Taming and moulding none but the wild.
Love and kindness dwell under this roof,
Never will you feel that you are aloof.
Angels don't show such a charm,
A company where you feel no harm.
When a child says," You are my favorite,"
You feel your commitment is all right.
Thanks to God for granting me this job,
A secured place , no regrets to sob.

Just finished reading and voting for all of your postings. Decided to comment on this one.

Interesting, original, descriptive, filled with gratitude, well written and presented. Good use of rhyming and rhythm.

Gave it an "I Like It" vote. As with your other postings. All well deserved.

From a rhyming perspective: Do you think the last word in line 3 of verse 1 would better be "there" than "here". Just a thought.

Thank you for becoming a fan. Appreciative and grateful. You are most thoughtful, considerate and kind.

Happy trails,

Ed Bradley.

Ahh this was so sweet but also kind of sad...Your poetry is like a piece of art. You express so much on one page that was once empty.

Your poem tells us how well you love your job working with children. Perhaps you could write children's poems!
Just a thought that your poetry could also be a teaching tool as well.

How beautiful. It is apparent that you are passionate about both writing, and your career as well. Writing always shines when the topic is something that you're very passionate about, as is the case here.

It flowed very smoothly, and the bold words at the end of each line was a nice touch!

Great job on this one.

I enjoyed this poem very much. I worked with people with disabilities for many years and I loved it. Hearing you speak of the children you teach is heartwarming. They are lucky to have a caring person like you in their lives.

A beautifully constructed poem and a joy to read!

Now if only everyone who helps the children could be as dedicated as you are, the world would truly be a better place. Your poem shows your feelings come from the heart. Excellent work. :) Sherry

As mentors we can do so much to shape a cilds life. They watch us and learn so fast at such a young age. You patient and gentle spirit would make the perfect goal to the unorganized and sometimes wild spirit of the young. It makes me feel good just know there are people like you around to help influence them.

Good writing also!

Thanks a lot Joe. I have a plan of teaching the poor even after my retirement. God has to give me the much needed strength to serve such children...Those innocent children have to be uplifted and I will surely give the best of my ability.

To teach children is always a wonderful experience. Their company, their smile, their childish behavior makes you relax. I could relate to this feeling totally.

A Big Thumps Up!! And A "LIKE" from me!!

Miss A

100% agree with you on this. It is indeed a delight to interact with young minds as I believe they have lot to teach us rather than us teaching them.
I have had the good fortune to interact with young children albeit for a short time and I can say with guarantee , that it has been one of my most enriching experiences. And I would love to tread that path again given an opportunity....
Thank you for putting this poem up.It brought back some wonderful memories . :) :)

Such a warm heartfelt piece.

I enjoy meeting people who help others. I was required in college to complete clinical placement work. Working with children was one of them. Then spent many years working with people with physical and developmental disabities. I absolutely loved it. Especially the years I was the Director. As I could make a difference on a greater scale.
I definately share in your passion.

This is beautiful and well crafted.

I appreciate the invite and so glad I stopped by.
Nice to meet you. Let's stay connected.
Hope to hear from you soon.
