THE MIST OF SLEEP

You lay asleep, softly I hear you breathe

Darling, how I wish I could measure my love

It would make it easier to let know how a tree grows

I get lost in your eye’s vibrant fire

They are soft as a new fawn’s expression

I melt in your smile

It touches my heart, electrically warming my soul

When you laugh my heart blooms

There is breathless magic in that delightful sound

You hold me while you sleep and I melt into peace

Rest, something I never understood

Never had – until now

My world started as a spark that first date

Your smile, the lightning strike in your eyes

They broke through my nervous fears called walls

And didst release me from self-driven chains

You lay asleep, softly I hear you breathe

Darling, how I wish I could measure my love

It would easier to explain what makes a dove fly
