As always my conversations seem to revolve around men. At work, on the phone with girlfriends, visiting with my sister - we naturally gravitate toward one of our most fascinating yet perplexing topics. None of us have figured out the answers but there is often a general consensus on what qualities or behaviors in a man are acceptable or unacceptable. As modern, strong, independent women, we know ourselves well and seem to be pretty clear what is a turn on and what is a turn off (or even a deal breaker in the more extreme cases.) So just for your entertainment I have compiled a list of our most commonly discussed turn ons and turn offs. It's not a scientific study but I have \"polled\" women of all different ages from all different venues of my life.

TURN OFF..... bad kissers. Almost everyone seemed to think that a man who was a bad kisser was a deal breaker. Especially the type who leaves his tongue limp and lifeless. But as with every rule there are exceptions and two of my many women friends did not concur. They felt that a good man was hard to find and if they were lucky enough to find a good guy they would hang onto him and teach him how to kiss properly.

TURN ON.....accents. I in particular, am a sucker for a good accent. All the hottest actors right now seem to be Scottish and have that absolutely delectable accent. Of course any British accent is cool, and Russian is exotic, but my personal favorite is the Boston accent. I once was so blinded by this guy's Boston accent that I fell in lust with him for his voice alone. It took me over a month to realize that he was depressed, morose, angry, and a drunk. Whew, those accents should be registered as a lethal weapon - it was a close call!

TURN OFF.....bad teeth. You wouldn't put a dirty crusty cup to your mouth so why would you put a stained, yellowing set of teeth to your lips? Of course most men are a little more hygienic than that, but there is always the obscenely crooked teeth, teeny tiny itty bitty teeth, pointy teeth, and yes even missing teeth. Ugh.

TURN ON......attention to detail. We all said we loved a guy who notices and compliments us on details about our appearance. Alot of times us women make serious effort to look alluring so it it nice to know that it is appreciated. Plus it is just all around flattering and gives the impression that the man really likes and cares about you.

TURN OFF.....rudeness. A guy who is lacking in politeness is not appealing. The worst offenders are the ones who are inconsiderate to people in the service industry like waitresses (this would include bad tipping) or sales people. It gives the impression that these men think they are better than everyone else and signals an out of control ego coupled with a definite lack of gratitude. Uncool.

TURN ON....big guys. Alot of us out there said we liked guys who were big in stature. Not just tall but but with some serious girth, even bulkiness to them. This made us feel petite (ie. not fat), and protected, and gave these men the appearance of being excellent huggers. Even though I still fall into this category of loving big manly men, I've now decided that I find littler guys sexy too. I was recently dating a guy who was physically fit but definitely small (he of course misrepresented his size in his online profile so when I met him it was a bit of a surprise). It turns out he was amazing in the sack and it was a whole lot easier to maneuver during sex, as well as being a lot less tiring and alot less work, if you know what I mean.

Of course the list could go on and on, and everyone has their own individual quirks and preferences, but in closing I think I can speak for most all of us gals when I say TURN ON....JOHNNY DEPP!
