The iniquity of my mind swindle’s my flesh

Into a gruesome rage which seizes something so pure

And defile it until its very essence has become a mesh

Tainted with lust and lies in desperate need of a sacred cure.

My soul weeps from disappointment time and time again,

Wondering, when will the mound of excuses come to a halt?

Wondering how hard must I fall to attain that level of pain?

The pain, which, open’s my eyes to see the reiteration of my same faults.

Then one night my soul called out to me and said: “Can’t you hear Verlande?”

So I listened but received silence and I didn’t understand how that could be.

Then my soul called out once more and said: “Listen… Just listen, Verlande?”

And in the depth of my heart I heard the faint sound of the Spirit of God crying for me.
