16-year-old Jaide Salloway doesn't know why she is depressed. Her friend was in an accident when she was younger. She doesn't know why she self harms, she doesn't know why she cries silently at night.
Its been like this for what seems like forever, and she can't take it anymore.
She hopes its just one big nightmare, she can sometimes convince herself she's asleep, and she'll wake up soon.
It never works.

She's had enough. She takes an overdose.

And wakes up in hospital, a clinic for depressed and suicidal teenagers. Her life becomes dull and grey, her only trusted friend is her physicatrist. Mr. Bentley, the only person who seems to understand.
Mr. Bentley thinks that Jaide could use a friend, so he calls in his son, Brendan and his friend Lizzie.

A first, as you can imagine, things are awkward and hostile.
But then Jaide lets them in. Lizzie becomes her best friend, Brendan becomes something more.
