Motherhood

I thought it would be easy,

to start a family.

I was blissfully unaware;

my mind empty of pregnancy thoughts.

But it never happened to me.

I thought it would be easy,

to start a family.

I was excited at the prospect,

my mind full of anticipation.

But it never happened to me.

I thought it would be easy,

to start a family.

I was obsessed with other people,

my mind forever visualising pregnant women.

But it never happened to me.

I thought it would be easy,

to start a family.

I felt each day, month turn in to years,

my mind totally occupied with babies.

But it never happened to me.

I realised that it wasn't easy

to start a family.

I realised I never would,

my mind finally drifted on to other things.

And then it happened....to me!

Although it wasn't easy

to start my family,

I realise how lucky I am,

my mind is full of wonder and amazement.

It finally happened...to me.

And I am so glad that it did.
