Goodbye my country

Goodbye my country;
Where the sands of the desert fills my doorway,
Where the air I breathe is filled with dust
Where the house I stay in;
Is strengthened by sand.

The country, where “humans” are meaningless,
The country, where innocent lives are lost each day,
The country, where war is used as testing grounds for weapons,
The country so common with tents and bombs

Why can’t we live in peace and harmony?
Why can’t we learn to love, care for one another?
Why can’t we appreciate God’s creation?
Why can’t we put our differences aside,
And work together as one?

It’s like prolonged cancer,
Where our only hope lies in the next generation;
For how long shall we live like this?
For how long shall we rely on the aid?
For how long shall we eat the cold porridge?

Today is a new day, the beginning of a new era,
The day that we all longed for,
The day that we dreamt to see,
The “historic” day that we gained our freedom,
So, goodbye my old country.
