Paradise from Hell

Haha I wrote this last summer when I was at camp and it was difficult for me to make friends and I was going a little crazy- half depressed, half angry.

I wanted to go here, I remind myself,

To test my limits and to get better,

Even though this society is still just as cruel,

And my eyes continue to get wetter.

My role in society is the underdog, of course,

When I keep my eyes down and my mouth shut,

Kept in horrible, wretched silence,

Feeling very much like a raggedy old mutt.

I’m not sure anymore why I came here,

For, really, as far as I can tell,

In this camp with lovely dorms,

That this is my paradise from hell.
