There were meteor showers tonight.
It was the saddest thing I'd ever seen.
4A.M.
And I,
at my window
stared up at the sky
you were not beside me
but I knew where you were.
you were at some window
with her by your side.

I watched as the galaxy glittered.
This night...
poetry would not come.
I crawled inside my darkness
and tried to force a dream
desperate for a song of solace
to repair this fractured night.

My eyes must shut now.
This night has tired them.
One last look I take
before I gently close the window.

There were meteor showers tonight.
It was the saddest thing I'd ever seen.
