This came to me one morning while I was in bed. The first few stanzas just popped in my head, so I got up to write them down. I worked on it a little more through out the day. Some feel when one dies an angel or Jesus our Lord and Savior comes to lead them home. So this is what this poem is about. I guess you could also call it a letter from Heaven.

When death called me I seen the light

I can’t recall if it was day or night

I wasn’t sure whether to go forward or back away

Then I heard a voice say, “Come do not be afraid”

“I have come to take you home,” he said

I then felt myself walking straight ahead

My knees and legs began to shake and I could hardly stand

I then heard him say, “Let me help you,” and he reached out his hand

As I took his hand I could feel myself floating away

I felt so much love and knew I wouldn’t have to suffer another day

“Today is the day of your new life, and old things become new

And as for your family they will be here soon

They’re only human so they’re bound to cry

But just keep in mind this isn’t goodbye”

Where I arrived there’s only peace, love and faith all around

So don’t let my not being with you bring you down

Things here are so beautiful and better, I wish you could see

But one day you will, because you’ll be here with me

I would tell you, but I want it to be a surprise

It’s something you have to see and experience with your own eyes

Just know I’m happy and I’m with our Lord, family and friends

And to you their love they send

Well I have to go now there are still a lot of things to see and do

But before I go just remember when your time comes I’ll be here waiting for you and I love you
