Poem inspired by the movie Mouth to Mouth (a must see for all). I don't often write poems inspired by books or movies, just for the record.

Mom followed me all the way here

I learned how to learn from her.

The leaders teach us how to cry,

How to stop taking heroin,

Mom followed us each step,

I called her because I was weak.

They yelled at me.

I cried on the cobblestones in Spain,

“Don’t touch me,” were his words, my body naked,

My legs open and raw, I was bloody as he walked away.

We were put in a well, my friend even died

Of asthma, we got water but no inhaler, my friend

She died. My mom followed us all the way

To Spain. Fell in love with a leader

And never went away.
