OUT OF DARKNESS

A madness awaits on my thoughts to take

My sanity and soul eternal at stake

On darkest memories it does reflect

Of mother Misery and father Neglect

Lost in the throes of their sorrowful state

An inherence of sins now presented as fate

When a star in the night like a light did shine

Like a brief revelation of glory divine

And grace was extended by a nail scarred hand

Stealing my gaze from this wretched land

Conviction now strengthens my heart to seek

Through mud and through mire the lost and meek

One foot in the day and the other in night

Reaching back through the darkness and pointing to light
