Remembering to Forget

You must be hiding inside my pillow

and as I rest my head fragments of you

fluff in the air

and settle inside my open spaces so as to haunt me throughout the night

teeming and taunting around

in my dreams like a suitcase with

bells and bone teeth

I spend all my days trying to forget you

but there you are swirling around

in my English Breakfast

leaving sordid little messages in

tea leaves like a timely phantom seer

I have taken all the pictures from the frames

empty and staring back at me

they are haunting with smiles

disappearing like a Cheshire cat

I spend all my days trying to forget you

the only solace I have found

is when I am staring deeply into his eyes

your not in there at least

Nothing is
