Ants pile their bodies,

Joining mouth and abdomen to form a bridge

Across the massive stream.

They lock jaws without question.

The Privileged scurried across,

Those deemed useful and essential.

Already, some of them have been swept away

By the raging torrents.

The Queen and her consorts walk,

Stepping all over her loyal subjects,

Without a second thought.

Once they have crossed,

the bridge began to

disintegrate to the ravenous tide.

Worker ants are simply washed away

To meet their Fate;

Corpses left floating in the current,
