My husband died. This is how I feel. It may not make much sense...but neither does losing a loved one.

Unchartered Territory

An empty house

an empty bed

my empty heart

...He's gone.

Empty drawers

one toothbrush on a shelf

a place at the table

...He's gone.

Late night talks

the strength of his arms

our next Anniversary

...It's been taken.

Planning a future

enjoying the journey

growing old

...It's gone.

Chemotherapy

sadness and anger

answers that never came

...We lived it.

Pleasantries and platitudes

compliments on my "strength"

fair weather friends

...I bore it.

A daily struggle

wanting to give up

knowing I cant

...I fight it.

A new path

to travel alone

not as I imagined

...It's beginning

He was loved

he is loved

he will be loved

...I'm thankful.
