The wind was cold against my skin, the town seemed motionless as everyone paid their respects to my parents. I felt empty.

"Lily?" A male voice asked, none of his usual amusement filled his tone. Sorrow instead, and pity.

"Go away, Kyle," I muttered absentmindly.

Tears leaked from my eyes and splashed onto the snow, slighltly melting the pitiful layer still on the gound. Kyle didn't leave, but he no longer talked, he stepped forwards, placed an understanding hand on my shoulder and pressed softly, signaling me to sit. I did. The only thing I had left was the golden locket that hung around my neck, I touched it quickly before talking.

"What happened?"

I had asked this question many times, hoping, just once, it would give me reassurerance. Kyle saw the whole thing, yet, he didn't stop it.

He sighed and sat next to me, an arm around my shoulders and began to speak. "I was walking down the street when I saw your parents. I was going to say hi, so I yelled their names. They, they stopped walking and-"

We both knew what happened then, the speeding car, my parents limp bodies, smiling at the sight of Lily's little friend, even through their afterlife, their bodies remained with a smile.

"They loved you so much Kyle, I think they were waiting for you to propose," I tried to joke about the marrying thing, but it just made me cry more.

I buried my face into Kyle's shirt, sobbing loudly while he stroked my hair and attempted to cry manly but we all know he was as girly as me in crying. I could hear the song the town was now singing in memory of my parents. Their favourite song, Two Of Us by the Beatles. I almost wanted to laugh, and in seconds I was. A delusional girl laughing on the day of her parents funeral, what is wrong with me?

"You okay?" Kyle asked me, looking creeped out.

I looked up at his brown eyes. "They're gone, Kyle, now my dad will never call you Kylee again."

He kissed my forehead. "And your mum will never spend five hours getting a picture for any other dances you go to," Kyle said half-heartedly.

I chuckled. "Remember senior prom?"

"Yes!" He exclaimed, laughing. "It's amazing we ever got there."

"I'll always miss them," I sighed, back to my 'life is over' mood.

Kyle pulled me up so we were standing and smiled. "At least their wish will come true."

"Wha-" I paused suddenly, shocked, as he got down on one knee.

"Lily Kate French, will you marry me?" Kyle produced a ring from no where and I fingered it lightly.

I smiled like an idiot and hugged him tight, pressing my lips to his quickly. "Yes."
