THE LINKIT FILES

“You should tell her,” Tiffany said “this is not going to end well”

“Don’t worry about it, it will be fine” Michael said, trying to comfort her.

“I have a bad feeling about this”

“We’ll be fine, she won’t find out”

“Whatever, but if things head south it’s on your head”

“I’ll call you later. I have to get home to my wife”

Michael pulls into the driveway, knowing he’s late again. He walks into the house to his twins sitting in the living room watching T.V., something they’re only allowed to do after finishing dinner. His wife, Ashley, walks towards the stairs.

“I’m going to bed, your dinners in the microwave.”

“Sorry, I was out with the guys and we just lost track of time.”

“We’ll talk later.” She shot him a dangerous look before heading up the stairs.

After he finishes eating, Michael heads upstairs to talk to his angry wife.

“I’m sorry that I was late again”

“Who’s Tiffany?” Ashley turns to him with tear stained cheeks.

“What?”

“She called earlier, looking for you”

“Oh, she must be calling about my bets.”

“You said you would stop gambling, that’s how you lost your job in the first place.”

“At least I don’t go around just chasing little stories”

The phone rings breaking the uncomfortable tension. Ashley answers pleasantly.

“Hello?”

“Ash!”

“Pikachu!”

Michael hears the familiar voice of Ashley’s younger sister, Anna, on the phone as Ashley moves to the next room to talk to talk. He dozes off before Ashley comes back to the bedroom.

Ashley hangs up the phone and lays down in bed. Not falling asleep, but staring at the ceiling thinking back to the day she played mechanic with her daddy.

“I’ll be right back sweety don’t touch anything okay?” Her dad says going to get lemonade for them.

She replies with a simple nod. Young 9 year old Ashley calls in after him asking “What does this do?” looking at the break fluid. Pretending to fix it, she accidentally breaks the line. When her dad comes back out she says she’s bored and wants to play with Pikachu.  Shortly after she hears her mother and father take the car to the store

After Michael continues to come home late, Ashley finally can’t take it, something inside of her snapped. She has to find Tiffany…

One day while Michael’s out and the twins are at school, Ashley takes advantage of her free time. She calls Tiffany back.

“Hey, Michael.” Tiffany answered surprised.

“No this is his wife, Ashley.”

“Oh, hello? Michael talks about you a lot and says we should meet.”

“Oh that would be great.”

Tiffany invites Ashley over unknowing of Ashley’s plan. 25 minutes later, Ashley shows up to Tiffany’s apartment. As they are having coffee and chatting buzz of the dryer goes off.

“Excuse me, let me go get that.” Tiffany says turning to get her clothes.

This is Ashley’s chance. She gets up and roams around the kitchen looking for knives. She finds a knife block at the back of the counter, glancing around to make sure the coast is clear she slips the bread knife into her bag, and lays her sunglasses on the counter.

“Sorry about that.” Tiffany comes back to the kitchen

“That’s okay, I have to go anyways.”

“Okay, it was nice meeting you.”
“You too.”

Tiffany walks Ashley to the door and locks it as she leaves.

When Michael gets home the kids are playing with Nancy, the babysitter, and Ashley is all dressed up, gloves and all.

“What’s the occasion?” Michael asked intrigued.

“Tiffany invited us to dinner”

“Oh…” Michael hesitates. “that’s great…”

Parking in the alley, Michaels phone rings, it’s his sister Linda, ignoring the call he slips his phone back in his pocket. As they get out of the car, Ashley holds the knife behind her back.

“Hey, honey, come over here I got you something” Ashley says, luring him closer to the dumpster.

“Okay.” He goes closer expecting something sweet.

Once he’s a few inches away, an over jealous Ashley pulls out the knife and stabs him in his right lung in a way that he can’t scream. The blood drains from his face as he falls to the ground. He looks up into Ashley’s eyes one last time and she stares back coldly, reaches down and yanks out the knife without sympathy.

She takes his clean jacket off his cold body and wraps it around the stab wound and drags him to the dumpster. She lifts his body and drops it into the dumpster like a sack of potatoes, knowing that in 2-3 days he would be Tiffany’s problem.

She goes to front door and buzzes apartment 6B. Tiffany lets her up and invites her in.

“I’m sorry, I think I left my sunglasses here.” Ashley said.

“Oh yeah you did, let me go get them” Tiffany says leaving Ashley alone in the kitchen.

Sneaking over to the knife block Ashley slid the knife back in place.

“Here you go” Tiffany hands her the sunglasses.

“Thanks”

“I’m sorry I’ve been spending so much time with your husband, he’s just so excited about buying the house.”

“Wait what?”

“I’m a loan consultant and we have been working out everything to buy your house.”

“Oh what a surprise, well I have to go thanks for everything.” Ashley hurries out the door and drives home quickly.

After paying the babysitter, putting the kids to bed she goes to her room and lays in bed.

“It’s been 3 hours, they should be home by now.” Ashley says to herself.

“Where is mom and dad?” Anna asks worried

A loud crash comes from down the street as the sky brightens with flames and people start to scream. The next thing they knew they were being driven away from their parents funeral by their Aunt Joanna.

Ashley wakes up and reaches for the phone, ready to call the police, she dials the number and waits for an answer.

“Hello.” Said the voice on the other end of the phone.

“My husband’s been missing for the last day” Ashley ‘cried’ into the phone.

She spent the next hour talking to various officers and officials giving information about Michael and saying Tiffany’s name multiple times…
