Should Have Stayed

What have I done?

Leyah,

My friend,

My best friend.

I look to my right,

You're there,

We should have stayed.

Should have called.

I did this?

How could this have happened?

I thought I was okay,

I should have let you do it,

You were okay.

Should have stayed.

My head is spinning now,

The coulors whirling,

Light,

White light.

No!

Your lifeless body lies there.

Why you?

Why can't I go instead?

Don't go.

The good men come.

The bright light continues.

Loud ringing breaks the silence of the fire.

Am I dead?

Why are they telling her not to look at me?

They tell me not to look at you,

I already have.

They tell me your okay,

You're not.

I'm breathing, your not.

My fault.

Am I breathing?

They're taking her now.

Will they come for me next?

I'm loosing feeling,

My eyes are drooping,

Giving in to the temptation of silence.

No!

My head throbs as I look to you,

Can't see you,

Know your there.

You're not gone,

Not yet.

The man in blue grabs me,

Can't feel his touch,

Numb all over,

Getting colder.

He's got you now,

Are you alive,

He takes you to the other men,

Out of sight.

White room,

Bright light,

Sterile smell,

Am I alive?

Surrounded,

Doctors, nurses.

Safe.

I wait,

I'm fine. You're not.

My fault.

How will I tell you're parents?

I cry,

They'll hate me.

I am sorry.

Slipping,

No!

Must hang on,

Little longer.

Slipping,

Must hang on,

Slipping,

Heart slows,

Stops.

Starts again.

Slipping,

Losing grip,

Heart stops

Gone.

Man in white comes out,

The room fills with sorrow.

Gone.

Gone?

No!

How? Why?

So much I missed,

Gone?

I lay in bed,

Lifeless,

How am I fine and you're not?

Wait,

Talking?

Whispering?

Theres nothing she can do,

I'm gone.

Bright light again,

No men this time,

I must leave.

I whisper to her,

Soft, silent words,

Comforting.

Good bye,

My friend.

Gone?!

Gone.
