Are you getting enough whole wheat? Whole wheat, half wheat or any wheat appears to be unhealthy, at least for me. I have spent a lot of time feeling like crap and trying numerous modalities of which all proved to be moderately successful at best. I am seeing more improvement from the elimination of wheat products than anything else. I would suggest anyone who has anything short of optimal health to consider eliminating wheat products immediately. Many people have heard of Celiac disease by now, not to be confused with Silly Ass disease,but many people may be wheat intolerant and not have Celiac Disease. Gluten free may not be the answer. Looking for a wheat free label may be necessary. For me, I am trying to avoid processed foods entirely. (Note: I said "trying") Maltodextrin also seems to be a problem for me. I am unsure if maltodextrin is related to wheat at this point. I am in the exploratory stages of this whole wheat free idea. I am very satisfied this far. Right now I am considering wheat a toxic substance and slowly introducing my dogs to a gluten free diet as well...No, it isn't fit for a dog to eat! I suppose that I will be handling wheat with latex gloves from this point on. I suppose that a respirator in the baking goods aisle of the grocery store might not be a bad idea. If the Pillsbury Dough-boy comes near me, his ass is toast.
Don't just take my word for it. In an article titled Banishing Wheat Belly, author Lee Walker says this in Natural Awakenings Magazine "...the gliadin protein in wheat is an opiate that stimulates appetite and addictive eating behavior.(it does not relieve pain)." I suppose if you want to eat more that maybe wheat is a good choice. Those opiate receptors in the brain are the same ones that are stimulated by some very powerful drugs. I ask that you seek out more information on this subject. There are numerous articles by respected sources that suggest wheat may be unhealthy. There is much more for me to learn and I will be posting as I learn and unlearn. I hope you will take time to share your information and experiences as well.
