Beyond the concrete watermark.

Look up my son

Look up.

Beyond the concrete watermark,

To swirling iron and spaghetti guttering.

To gagging gargoyles and mint green minarets.

Look up my son

Look up.

To weathervane pierced clouds and empty clock towers.

To crosses and daggers and playing card tiles.

I hold his hand and look high above me,

But the beauty and spectacle are far from my sight.

As I gaze at his face I struggle to see now,

The love he once showed me is a fading street light.
