Wave.

Propped up by the elbow of my kin
Jagged pebbles pushing on my bare soles.
Jesus. God. Almighty. The sun is shining
Brighter than my future as the salt water flows.

Unseen from shore a whirlpool stirs
Counter clockwise and nearly forgotten.
A love left treading water clear and pure
Breast stroke back stroke gaining momentum.

Hit by the wave.

Riding the wave.

Drenched by the wave.

Fizzing as it pulls back over the shingle
Leaving Diamonds and Rubies and memories of Gold.
Sad now the horizon as it cries a deep purple
And the love that treads water splits my bare soul.
