A Heart's Temple

Cavernous chambers lit only by single candles along the wall.

These corridors lead to the nucleus of my heart's temple.

Many eons ago, my heart was shackled to a pedestal while still effervescent and beating.

Engraved on each link of this cursed manacle were patois like freak, degenerate, cripple, worthless, nothing, and disabled.

With the exodus of my intellect sharpening over junctures,

The manacles fell away and the facade of my heart had a lexicon of valor , poise, and fortitude.

The Sphinx of my soul is timeless.
