It wasn’t supposed to be like this. I was just supposed to stay there in my distasteful, cluttered hospital room and live a miserable, uneventful life in my cage, since I was deemed “contagious and dangerous”. It’s not as if I have an issue with that, after all, I’d rather be consumed in my books than be consumed by people. However, life doesn’t want me to be happy. Now, I have been freed from my comfortable cage and the only person I’ve ever cared about, Katherine, has taken my place and is destined to die in eight months. At first, I thought this was all some sick joke to convince me to stop being so reliant on Katherine. Sadly, that isn’t the case and every little part about this is genuine and real. The only shot I’ve got at doing something about her illness is if I join the Liberation Alliance, rise up in the ranks, and somehow find the cure for the X.Q. virus in time. Then again, how is a weak, bookworm like me supposed to fight (and live) in a militia?
