It was an unnatural death
The doctors said
Yet only you and I know
Exactly what happened
That fateful night
You begged me
To put you out of your pain

I couldn't emphasize enough
What you were going through
You see, I did know the pain
To love another
Who knows not your name
But your heart it was stolen
From me, just a second too late

I’ll take off
Your security blanket of lies
And replace it
With my loneliness
I’ll take away your pain
Which drips from your eyes
As your tears fall silently

Perhaps, now in death
You will be able to reach out
To touch me
Hold onto me
Watch me from above
For no longer will you have
Unrequited love
