What would you do if you went back in time?

I'd enjoy myself, thanks- that would do me just fine.

But instead people make a ridiculous claim:

To prevent dreadful history, it's always the same.

There are flaws to these plans, which go unnoticed

As people presume these will zoom out of focus,

When they find themselves no longer in the present-

Whereas I, myself, when thinking, am hesitant.

How, for instance, could I kill Hitler or Stalin?

In my mind, the pursuit would prove far too trialling.

You'd have to get near to them, and have a plan...

Instead, I'd travel somewhere I could get a tan.

Thinking on it, what would you rather do:

Go to jail for slaughter- or help Elvis Presley to

achieve his fame, stardom and success?

Maybe some people don't think this best.

Obviously they'd prefer to end someone who

All in all, will be replaced- unfortunate but true.

So I tell you this: if you ever travel back-

Relax, let your hair down, cut yourself some slack.

There's nothing to be done that can save the future.

It's inevitable, sadly. Instead, why not go for

A nice holiday? Meet someone all generations will adore:

Try Churchill, Marilyn Monroe or- Robin Hood?

Just avoid famous dictators... They're really not good.
