Fox Bitten.

The rabbit let out one final squeak before going limp under the pale skin of my hand, and I smiled as I put my knife back in my bag.

I had killed so many only to eat them myself- my family was dead to me.

Being alone isn't so bad- nobody gets in the way of my hunting.

Just then a twig snapped behind me and I whirled around to see a boy about my age. He had dark skin, chocolate brown eyes and thick curly hair.

"Can you share?" he asked- I stayed quiet. I didn't know who he was and if he tried to take my food I would torture him and let him bleed to death.

"I didn't come here for a fight. I just saw you hunting and I wanted something to eat. Please, I'm starving." He begged, and I pursed my lips, my red hair blowing back as a strong gust of wind nearly knocked me off my feet.

"I guess you still don't trust me. If you want to know my name, I honestly can't tell you because I don't have one."

This information shocked me and, finally, in my soft voice I asked him,

"Why don't you have a name?"

He smiled at my words and leaned in to hear me properly.

"My parents got rid of me right after I was born and never named me. I don't want them to find me so," he shrugged, "Here I am."

I considered sharing with the helpless boy, and finally came to my decision.

"Why not? You get half, I get half."

He thanked me and I chopped the rabbit up, making sure to get rid of anything unhealthy.

As we ate, he began speaking to me again.

"What's your name?" he asked, and I glanced up at him.

"My name used to be different, but I changed my name to Red." I told him, and he looked thoughtful before replying.

"Why did you change your name?"

"Because I was an accidental birth. My family hated me when I was born so I ran away. I didn't want anything more to do with them and I haven't seen them since. I hope they rot in hell." I hissed, and he didn't say a word for a few moments.

"Can we change the subject?" he asked as he studied the anger on my face.

"Of course." I replied.

We didn't speak for another few minutes as we had nothing else to talk about, but finally, he began talking again.

"Do you know what the Hunger Games are?" He asked, and I chuckled.

"Yes, I know what the Hunger Games are. They're what I've been waiting for my whole life." I told him, and he looked confused as he took another bite of the rabbit meat.

"What are they?" he asked, and I began explaining.

"The Hunger Games are all about one thing; survival. You snooze, you lose goes literally in the games. Two tributes from each district are chosen to participate in the games and if you win, you get so many riches."

He seemed to be thinking before he spoke again, his voice coming out determined.

"And how do you win?"

A small smile crossed my face and I replied,

"To win, you kill."

"And if you don't want to kill?" He asked, and I thought before answering.

"Then may the odds be ever in your favor."
