Not really a short story, and not all that poetic. I guess it's more of a literary musing. Anyway, tell me what you think :)

Have you ever seen a picture where all the people look so happy and perfect, all squished together to fit into the frame? Now, have you ever really looked at the picture? Did you notice the fake smile, where the truth is only visible in the bored eyes of the subjects? Did you notice the sweat from the heat dripping down the peoples bodies from the blazing sun, only adding to the only radiating heat coming from the surrounding bodies? Did you notice the clothes sticking to bodies weighing everyone down? You probably didn’t. Mainly because the whole point surrounding pictures is freezing a happy memory in time. No one wants to remember all the bad things, even if it means having fake memories to show people. What if that picture could tell you the whole story? What would happen if they could tell you about how the Dad is worrying about how he’s going to pay the hotel bill? Or how the kids were forced to spend time with their family, no matter how much of a lie the happy memories are? What if you cold find out that this was the one moment during the entire vacation that the four-year-old was standing still? The demand for camera’s and film developing would lower by so much. Some people live in these pictures. It might be because it doesn’t tell the problems; instead it captures a moment of fake happiness that people cling to. Even if they know it’s a lie, it just becomes so much easier to live in that moment rather than face the lies behind it.
