Oh, just growing pains in old age. Too soon old, too late smart. Or something like that.

I Went To A Place Called Booksie

I went to a land called Booksie
I thought I could hang out there
I thought I would take my writings
Give them a place to air.

I thought I could be unseen
I thought I would be unknown
It all seemed to me so clear --
Just some land that I needn’t own

The stories were piling up
Coming thick and fast
I thought I could work in my corner
That this deluge would not last

The thought never entered my mind
That I could or might be undone
My intention was very clear
I thought it all would be fun

But Booksie’s a virtual world
Inhabited not by a few
But by many and many a writer
Who come to post and to view

You think its an empty room
Can pull at your crotch and fart
Then you find that you’re only a piece
And certainly not set apart

You learn that it’s not all so simple
Nor is it without any dues
You find it quite mind boggling
To be one of a thousand YOU’s

So you breathe in a few deep breaths
Restrain Ego and pull in its claws
Tell it to stop being hungry
Turn a deaf ear to any applause

Try not to hear any booing
Turn back to what’s been a home
Go back to the pleasure of writing
Write it out in the form of this poem
