The wind is mysterious, eternal, global and yet it is all mine when it visits me... A paean to this powerful voice - the wind. And a big thank you to Carol M. for suggesting this form of Japanese poetry to me. It's a first try and firsts are prone to pratfalls, but I don't care... It was fun and fascinating and fulfilling. What more could be asked? Thanks, Carol!

Wind

The wind is up now
Really speaking out tonight
The wind talks to me
But it speaks only in tongues
When I think it gone
Then again it comes at me
Leaves me longing for Berlitz

I’ve always loved wind
It’s playful like bad children
Curious as they
Let in, it knocks things over
Kept out, it complains
Circling around the windows
Signaling I have no heart

I like hearing wind
Hearing although not knowing
It’s the mystery
Being courted in this way
When it leaves I’m sad
The sudden stillness creeps in
And a loneliness follows

If I could speak wind
What would I hear it saying?
Words meant just for me?
Maybe it is howling mad
Moaning for this world
First fast then slow loud then low
If I knew would I tell you?
