Ran poured down around me, and thunder cracked in the distance. Suddenly, a bolt of lightning struck the ground next to me. Blinded with fear, I galloped as hard as I could to the nearest shelter. There was not a tree, nor a safe corral anywhere in sight. “Apollo!” “Where are you?” The voice was so familiar, but I haven’t heard it in weeks. My ears flicked in the voice’s direction. I could hear the voice drawing closer as I gazed at my surroundings, my eyes wild with fright. It was still drawing closer, and now it seemed to be right next to me. “Apollo, where have you been? Father must have let you out of your corral a few weeks ago. I just knew you wouldn’t stray far boy.” Although I did not know what these words meant, I knew this girl. She had provided for me since my birth. I felt much calmer as she grasped a chunk of my black and white mane and led me to a small corral in town. Even though the corral was not sheltered or covered, I felt very safe there. I was very exhausted. Horses like me usually sleep standing up, but that night I l slept in the dirt ground of the corral.
