Down in Jo`burg…….

A child has just died down in Jo`burg,

He died all alone on the street,

He was clothed in an old piece of sacking

And a newspaper covered his feet.

A child has just died down in Jo`burg,

And he died of exposure and cold,

Unwanted, uncared for and hungry,

And only just on six years old.

A child has just died down in Jo`burg,

And they called him Bongani the Clown.

He would laugh til he cried, but on the inside

Pains through hunger were getting him down.

A child has just died down in Jo`burg,

And he died without knowing his name

His Ma and his Pa both smoked marijuana

And abandoned their child down a lane..

A child has just died down in Jo`burg,

And he died because nobody cared.

For just one crust of bread it can truly be said,

This child of God might have been spared.

Yes, a child has just died down in Jo`burg,

And thousands more kids join the queue,

All born without hope then abandoned,

By their parents, by their peers and by you…

A child has just died down in Jo`burg,

Did you watch, turn your back and just sigh?

He was one of Gods precious creations,

Did you walk on, and just let him die?

A child has just died down in Jo`burg,

Who`s to blame for his death… I can tell.

If the soul of that child gets to Heaven

Then mine surly is heading for Hell.
