It's my version of a twisted fairy tale on Snow White. Pretty sure not much more than that is needed. Oh! Character death is involved.

Once, there was a Princess. Her hair was as black as the night sky. Her skin was such a lovely color of ivory. Her lips were full and as red as blood itself. Her eyes were her most gorgeous feature. Such a brilliant blue, they were even said to see through one’s soul. Of course, that was a lie, yet still believable. Her name was Snow White and with age it is said she got even more beautiful.

Her step-mother, the Queen, was also gorgeous. She had such beautiful chocolate brown hair. Her skin was an almond shade. Her eyes were such a beautiful shade of green. Everyone envied her. Everyone wanted to be part of her life full of wonderful treasures. Even her personality ran of beauty! But, it all changed one day. She stood before her mirror and admired herself.

"Mirror, mirror on the wall. Who is the fairest of them all?" She asked proudly, already knowing the answer.

"You are." The mirror would say to her every time, but this time it didn't. A picture of the young Princess showed and the voice said, "Snow White is the fairest of them all, now. Though, you are still gorgeous, Snow White is even more."

The Queen was shock, horrified even. How could a girl at the tender age of thirteen be the fairest?! The Queen was mortified! For years, she tried to find a way to kill Snow White. One day, a huntsman was in the kingdom. She called for him and gave him the task of killing Snow White. He was confused and asked many questions that she never answered. After realizing that, he accepted her offer. She gave him his instructions, and then told him to leave.

He walked out to the gardens and there sat Snow White. Slowly and carefully, as if not to warn her, he walked up to her. His breath caught in his throat as his eyes lay upon her. He could see why she was the fairest of them all. She was such an amazing sight. Breath taking, even. After a minute of staring at her, Snow White looked up. Her blue eyes looked into his nearly black ones.

Her lips pulled back into a smiled and showed off her dazzling white teeth. He wanted to turn around and run. He knew he could never kill someone as gorgeous as herself. It would be such a horrible crime. He bit his lip and looked down at his shoes. Behind his back, he held a dagger and his hands were shaking violently. He could still feel her eyes upon him and he dropped the dagger. She looked down at it in shock, and then quickly stood up.

He slowly looked up to meet her shocked eyes. He knew he had to tell her what the Queen wanted him to do, but he was afraid of what the Queen would do to him. Suddenly, he pushed her in the opposite direction of the castle, the only home she knew for years. She stumbled backwards and tripped. All she could do was stare up at him in horror.

"Run!" He screamed at her. "Run and don't ever come back! RUN!"

She stood up and ran into the wilderness. He watched her leave, and then turned to face the castle. He knew that was the last living moment as pain shot throughout his body. After twenty long minutes of this torture, his body crumpled to the ground dead and lifeless. His eyes stared at the castle, never once blinking.

Inside the castle, the Queen screamed. How could he fail her?! She gave him specific instructions on what to do and he failed! She looked around her chambers. Slowly and angrily, she walked up to the mirror before her and glared at it. She picked up one of her many perfume bottles and threw it at the mirror. Glass and perfume flew everywhere, but the mirror stood undamaged. She let out another angry scream and fell to her knees.

All these years of being the fairest meant nothing. Not while the Princess ran free. Everything she worked for was ruined. A thought crossed her mind and she stood up. She dusted herself off and looked at the mirror. She cleared her throat and got ready to speak.

"Mirror, mirror on the wall," she started like every time. "Show me Snow White."

An image appeared of a girl running in the woods. Her face once so flawless was now covered in cuts and scratches from branches that hit her face. She was breathless and started to slow down, but continued to run. Her forehead was covered in sweat and her eyes were full of fear. Why would that man tell her to run?!

Her ankle caught on a root and she fell, letting out a pained and shocked yelp. She fell to her hands and knees, her ankle throbbing in pan. She tried to move her leg and winced as pain traveled up her leg. Tears fell down her face. She couldn't move her leg because she knew her ankle was broken. She called out for help, but no reply followed. After sitting there for what seemed like hours, she heard footsteps. Seven pairs and all were stepping roughly on the branches. Again, she called out for help.

"Someone! Please?! Anyone! My ankle is broken and I can't move it!" She screamed.

The footsteps stopped, and then started again. They were heading her way! After a few minutes of sitting there, seven men surrounded her. All very short and each had a pick ax slung over their shoulders. She looked at each of them and bit her lip. Each of them was so alike, yet so different.

"What is the problem?" One of them asked.

She looked at him. "My ankle...It's broken!"

He nodded and looked at the one wearing glasses. "Doc."

The one with glasses nodded and shuffled forward. He bent down and examined her ankle. Every now and then, he'd press down. She'd jerk her leg back and wince. He nodded and stood up, clearing his throat. He raised his hand and pushed his glasses back to the bridge of his nose.

"She um...Most definitely broke her ankle and um...I need you all to carry her." He said, his voice coming out uncertain.

They nodded and dropped their bags. Carefully and gently, they picked her up and started to carry her to their cabin. After thirty minutes, they reached their home and brought her inside. Slowly, they placed her on their small sofa and Doc treated her ankle.

For a year, Snow White lived with them and took care of the home. During that year, she got tricked buy the Queen, hidden in disguise. Every time she came, she had a new trick up her sleeve in hopes of killing Snow White. Some were so close to working, but none ever finished the job. The Queen was furious and stood before her mirror. She placed her hands by her side and stared at it.

"Mirror, mirror on the wall. Show me the way of killing Snow White." She commanded.

A picture of an apple appeared and the mirror spoke, "A poison apple should do the trick."

She grinned and reached her hand into the mirror. Slowly, she pulled her hand out and in it was an apple. She laughed and held the apple to her chest. Such a wonderful way of killing Snow White! She stepped into the mirror, and then came out as an old lady with a basket full of apples. Such a perfect way of killing Snow White!

In front of the dwarf’s home, Snow White picked apples from an apple tree. The crunching of feet on pebble made her turn around, thinking the dwarfs were back. Instead, she saw an old lady stumbling around and gasped. Quickly, Snow White rushed to the old lady.

"Ma'am!" She called. "Please! Let me help you!"

The old lady looked at her and smiled. "Would you really help an old bat like me?"

Snow White nodded. "I would!"

"Then take this basket and let me catch my breath." The old lady said and handed Snow White the basket. "Please, have an apple for helping me. It's the least I could do to repay you."

Snow White nodded and took a random apple from the top. "Thank you!"

The old lady shook her head. "No dear! Thank you! Now please! Take a bite!"

Snow White smiled and held the apple to her lips. She carefully bit into it and smiled as he delicious juices ran over her tongue, the lady watched her with hungry eyes. Snow White swallowed, and then started to choke. She looked at the old lady in horror as she changed to the Queen. Snow White fell to her death as the apple dropped to the ground and rolled away The Queen laughed and walked away.

Soon the dwarfs were home, but only to be greeted by the lifeless body of Snow White. They rushed over to her and rolled her onto her back. Grumpy closed her eyelids and they picked her up. They carried her inside and soon, Princes were filling their main room, each to kiss the Princess to see if she'd wake.

After only one was left, he gave her a soft kiss and waited. Nothing happened. His eye filled with tears as he stared down at her. She was dead and there was no way of waking her like they all hoped. The all knew it. He stood up and left the room.

Days after that, her funeral was set up and everyone said their goodbyes. The Queen got her way and she knew it. She was once again, the fairest of them all.
