Chapter One - Part One
It was a pitch black night, a wind howling night, a night you could only see outlines. There was no sign of stars; it was a night that only occurred in the worst of her dreams. Cecily ran up the
cobbled street path, her footsteps echoing around the eerily silent town. Fierce winds whipped her face, making it hard to see where she was going. The immortal world does not show mercy. The
immortal world is a dead world, a world of the people and creatures that are neither dead nor living. People and creatures that are evil, that know no loyalty or devotion. Its transparent houses
showed the ever-growing humans quietly sitting in their moulding armchairs, with a newspaper at their side that they seldom read. But mortals could not see through these houses, they only looked
ghost like, and it was just Cecily’s luck, that where she was there; in the immortal world.
Using her left hand, she pushed herself away from a scratched dark fence, she ran forwards and into a flaked, golden lamp post. She stopped, squinting to see the outlines of the many houses before
her, and shook her head fiercely.
She slipped in a puddle and thumped her head into the concrete below her. The world seemed to shake and spin much faster than natural before her. She grappled for a square of concrete that had
wedged itself out of the earth, as if she were to fall off the edge of the world. She rolled onto her back and looked up at the sky, to find a star that what lead her to the destination that she
was supposedly to go to. But there was nothing. Nothing but blackness and raindrops speeding out of their invisible clouds.
Star gazing had always been a serious hobby for Cecily, but star gazing would not work that night. Nor any night in the immortal world. But Cecily tried anyway, for she did not know that.
