Gaining Sway

A new dawn crept up silently,
The night still lingers near.
My nightly dreams and thoughts envisioned
Still hold my mind imprisoned

A chilly fog, both pale and thick
Disguised the rising sun
A pale disk in a light-blue sea
No longer warm is She.

Warm summer days are long lost now,
The Fall will soon expire
And fallen leaves with gold aglow
Will give their way to snow

Her time has come, the darkest nights
The shortest days, the coldest light
With winter only days away
I feel her power gaining sway.
