With his gaze fixed on his

Glass

He thought of the children

Stowing away on the winds of war

Armed to the teeth and

Knee deep in the blood

Of the land he knew better than them

He thought of the young love

Destined to choke

Before it could live

He thought of the loss of innocence

That he himself

Had lost before

He stared into his whiskey;

A reflection of guilt

He drank.
