The desert is built up of millions of grains of sand. Each grain is built up of many molecules. Every second a new grain of sand is blown in from the East and builds on to the community of sand that covers the baked earth. To cross the desert would be a blessing from God. Those who tried to cross it ended up buried in the deep coffin of sand. I saddled my black horse, Amber and made my way over to the Mejji bazaar. I coughed as a heavy dust flew in my face. Amber responded with a loud neigh.
The gates boomed open like thunder arising from the South. I stepped inside the small town square. The gates closed as I took my first step into the open world. I carefully filled my wine skin and headed West to the pottery shop. After purchasing a small canteen I paid the artisan twelve silver pieces that I had found during my travel to the underground silver mine. I had one last thing to buy before I began my long and tiring journey across the endless plain of sand. I glanced at the lepers sitting with their bandaged faces on the hard ground. I flipped them each a gold piece as I passed.
I crossed the town river to the fletching shop. I purchased a short bow with twelve steel arrows. Amber and I were ready to cross The Desert of the Lost Kings. We were not afraid of the elements. All we focused on was reaching the end. There was no time to worry. Fate would take us on the path we were meant to take.
