Remember how we started, rough or ready, lend a hand Together, building even rules for shepherds as for lambs For us to turn our backs and say, there is no right or wrong, As well do for yourself, and Have it all, demanding more If now could wait a second, say, if when could stop a day, Forever may be better, more we care, the more we gain. As if for only greed or gold we grow, Is this the way God wanted us to go? We know what it was like here, when we landed, far away, The horror, lonely hardship Early graves, were surely paid. To look around today and see Our streets still hide in shame The undertaker cries, and yet Police have none to blame An asset or a ticket, never Free to laugh or play, no Wonder with degrees like these our children never stay So where's the beacon, leader, light to show Is this the way God wanted us to go? In nature we believed, an ever friend 'till almost we can see our nether end How much can such a few consume, how long 'till mountains tumble into oceans strong? We burn or store an ever growing waste, While food has barely nutrients or taste As weeping rivers trickle under trees, And mother nature lurches to her knees. Shall we go on as if, to futures blind Beyond our power to undo or unwind? If money wasn't oil around esteem there'd be enough for all of us to feed. So tell me how are we to ever know, Is this the way God wanted us to go?
